Katherine Contamination Class Action

Omni Bridgeway is unconditionally funding a class action (the Class Action), being run by Shine Lawyers, against the Commonwealth of Australia (Department of Defence) (Defence) in connection with land contamination arising from the Defence’s use of aqueous film forming foam at the RAAF Base Tindal, Katherine, in the Northern Territory (the Site).

Current stage of case

On 26 February 2020 the parties reached an in principle settlement, subject to Court approval. 

You can find out more about the Settlement and any required steps by reading the Federal Court of Australia Notice as to Proposed Settlement of the Katherine PFAS Contamination Class Action.
 
The deadline to take any steps in relation to the Notice as to Proposed Settlement was 7 May 2020. As such, registrations to participate in the Katherine PFAS Contamination Class Action are now closed, and any further inclusion will be subject to court approval.
